THE CHALLENGE
Eliminate a $6+ MM sales backlog and meet a +15% CAGR without capital expenditure for a “sold out” product line.
BUSINESS NEEDS
Capture latent production capacity and realize run-rate improvements within 6 months without capex via:
- Targeted Use Cases to increase process throughput
- Enhance digital capabilities for process control and measurement
- Enhanced “daily performance management” system
SCIMET led an end-to-end operations diagnostic which identified 7 Use Cases to improve process throughput by enhancing product/process segmentation, reducing cycle time, digital performance management of process steps, optimizing batch sizes, and decreasing downstream yield losses. These Use Cases were implemented within 4 months with no capital expenditure and allowed the client to realize an additional $25 MM in sales capacity which eliminated their backlog. Subsequently, a Lean Industry 4.0, future-state vision was developed which would add an additional ~$45 MM in sales capacity with a capital expenditure of ~$20 MM.
